FFXIV Official Website Update – Map Details

The official Final Fantasy XIV website has been updated. You can find the new updates under:

  • World -> Map
  • World -> City-States (In here, Ul’dah and Gridania have text now, and Limsa Lominsa has guild information)

We’ve also updated our gallery with all of the new images. See the collection of images from the official website update in our gallery.

Update 1 – 1:20am: Updated the city screenshots in the gallery with ones from the Japanese website as they are higher resolution.
Update 2 – 9:00am: Added the alpha-beta comparison image below. This shows a screenshot from the alpha and beta (unreleased) versions of the game. In beta, it looks like dynamic lighting was added.

European FFXIV Website Finally Updated

Remember when the Japanese (March 30) and North American (April 5) official Final Fantasy XIV websites were updated? The European one has finally caught up as well. We’re guessing the delay has to do with translating the information in 2 additional languages. Check out the content under Menu -> Races. Each race had their 2 Clan sections added to them. There is no information about the races/clans with this update that we haven’t already seen.

Official FFXIV Website Update Incoming

The information has started to flow. 4Gamer.net has given us a few more images. The collection of the new images are below. The most interesting one shows the game’s user interface. Though, this may have changed quite a bit already, and will probably change more before the game releases. There are also some images from the opening trailer/move for the game (that was shown to people that attended VanaFest). Be sure to check out the other information that came out over the last day.

Update 3/11 8:46am: Here’s an updated song from the Japanese FFXIV Website (right-click and save-as to save to your computer). Sounds like battle music to us.

Update 3:15pm: No official website update yet. The FFXIV Beta website did launch for those with access, but it currently only has a forum available for people to talk on. No alpha client is available for download yet. On a side note ZAM, Eorzeapedia, and FFXIVCore have all done write-ups on all the new discipline information that came from the Famitsu article.

Update 3/12 3:40am: A second Japanese magazine has been released and translated. ZAM is covering a Q&A session done by Dengeki magazine. It’s a fairly lengthy Q&A talking about many different aspects of the game, though it has some overlap from the Famitsu article others have already translated. As well, only the Japanese website has been updated still (as reported yesterday morning), but it’s content seems to be equivalent to what we’ve seen from the magazine translations. We’ll keep an eye out for NA and EU updates still.

Update 1:50pm: Eorzeapedia has done a write-up covering the Famitsu Q&A session along with a breakdown of the user-interface screenshot seen below. As well, FFXIVCore has done their own write-up on the Dengeki Q&A that ZAM already covered. On the official website side of things, there still is no updates for the NA or EU sites.

Official FFXIV website outage

IBM Server

Around 2:00am CST on July 4th the official North America Final Fantasy XIV website went offline and was completely unresponsive. The timing of this outage was possibly during some type of server maintenance. The website remained offline for the rest of the day and is still not online, 30 hours after the original outage. We expect the server will come back online on Monday morning once Square’s staff comes back into the office.

While the North American web server was down, all other region servers remained online (Japan, UK, France, and German sites stayed up).

UPDATE (July 5th, 8:55pm CST): The North American FFXIV site is back online now (it came back up within the last 15 minutes).
